The Taj Mahal is famous for its near-perfect bilateral symmetry, representing harmony and order. However, there is one major exception: the tombs inside. While the cenotaph of Queen Mumtaz Mahal sits in the exact center of the chamber, her husband Shah Jahan's cenotaph was added later and placed off-center next to hers, breaking the monument's layout.
