The Living Spanish Towers Built from Human Muscle
In Catalonia, teams known as colles compete to erect castells—multi-tier human towers reaching up to ten stories high. The foundation consists of a dense, pressing crowd called the pinya, which cushions falls and steadies the base. Light, agile children, known as the enxaneta, scramble to the very top and raise four fingers to salute the crowd before the tower safely dismantles.
